The “1% Solution” and Nicolet Plastics, Inc.

What is the difference between winning and losing in today’s economy ?  How can today’s manufacturers separate themselves from the rest of the pack ?

Nicolet Plastics, Inc. recently attended the 2012 MAPP Benchmarking Conference on October 11th and 12th in Indianapolis,  sponsored by Manufacturers Association for Plastics Processors (MAPP), the only organization that works to provide plastics manufacturers with bottom line impacting programs & services.

We were fortunate to have heard the message from Tom Connellan, author of the book, “The 1% Solution”.  Tom conveyed that the difference between companies is no longer a wide gap, but just tenths of a percent and presented actionable ideas for attendees to incorporate into daily practices on the plant floor.

Think about the most recent Olympics, where the difference between winning Gold and Silver was just tenths of a second….

At Nicolet Plastics, we are focused on finding those opportunities to be better than the competition, and are consistently searching for ways to reduce costs to our customers….

Building an Accountable Team at Nicolet Plastics

Nicolet Plastics recently hosted Eric Coryell of Core Connections to speak at a companywide meeting on Friday, August 24th.  The focus of his meeting with our group was the creation and leading of accountable teams, and learning to deal with “Real Issues”.

As we continue our focus on Quick Response Manufacturing and Time, building our strong Accountable Team Structure will continue to differentiate Nicolet Plastics from other businesses.

2012 QRM European Conference and Nicolet Plastics

Nicolet Plastics attended the 2012 QRM Conference in Arnhem, Netherlands this June 4-7th as a commitment to continued improvement with Quick Response Manufacturing.

Not only was it well worth our while in terms of the education derived from the presentations, the conference also highlighted the positive Global Impact of Quick Response Manufacturing.

As a testament to the success that Nicolet Plastics is having with QRM, a little over one week after attending the conference we reduced our lead times by an additional 7 days.  This reduction in lead time is a direct result of the commitment of Nicolet Plastics and our employees to Quick Response Manufacturing and our goal of being your premier custom injection molder of choice.

Co-Sponsors for this event, Nicolet Plastics and the Pirates of the Northwoods Parrot Head Club are proud to announce a name change for this year’s event. This year’s title will be the Janet Davis Memorial Nicolet Walk/Run, as we honor the life of Janet, who was the initiator of the walk/run idea at Nicolet Plastics and was the energy that drove this event for its’ first 6 years. Janet lost her battle with cancer last year and we wanted to pay tribute to her by dedicating this year’s event to her memory.

The event that Janet envisioned has been able to donate almost $44,000 to area emergency response departments since the event began in 2003. Besides being a way to raise needed funds for the area departments, it also provides an opportunity for friends and family to get some exercise and enjoy each other’s company while taking in the scenic beauty of Maiden Lake as runners and walkers make their way around the 4.37 mile route.
